Is your family team Captain America, Deadpool, Thor, or Superman? Or maybe you’re all about Gamora, Black Widow, or Captain Marvel. Then again, perhaps the Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokémon, or Dog Man top your list!
Whichever heroes your family loves, get ready—Free Comic Book Day is coming on Saturday, May 3!
Free Comic Book Day is exactly what it sounds like: once a year, comic book publishers release special, free editions just for this day, and participating shops across the country hand them out. Many stores even add extra fun with games, raffles, meet-and-greets, and more!
Right here in our area, four awesome local comic shops will be celebrating—and you’re invited! Remember to Say you saw it on Macaroni Kid!
(Just a heads-up: there’s no way to guarantee which titles each store will have in advance, so it’s always a fun surprise.)
Dewey's Comic City
6 Green Village Rd, Madison
10am-3pm
Plus free sketches & Autographs
Guest appearance: to be announced
Amazing Heros
1025A Stuyvesant Ave, Union
11am-6pm
Clockwork Comics & Cards
1003 Vauxhall Rd, Union
12-7pm
We highly recommend getting there early if the free book is everything to you. There have been past reports of lines forming 1-2 hours early (though most give away enough free books to list for hours but not necessarily all the way to closing time). Double check the social media of the store(s) you want to visit prior to the day for any special instructions.
